Pocket Billiard Balls

Pocket Billiards, known mostly as Pool here, is very popular in the pubs and clubs. I used to play when I was a young fella, but never seriously - was just a social game.

But, I can play with XaraXtreme! - and here they are along with some chalk and a cue.
A nice excercise with shade, colour and lighting. All Xara tools plus Mehdi 'fur' effect for the chalk.

Fender XaraCaster - a stratocaster drawn in Xtreme
After the Drifting Thunder 'Trueno' project I wanted to turn my attention to something else that has [played] a big part in my life in the past.

I chose to draw the (quote) "revolutionary new Fender VG Stratocaster which offers guitarists instant alternate tunings, a selection of dead-on electric guitar models, acoustic and 12-string guitar sounds, and more—all with the turn of a knob. No special outboard gear, cables, or accessories required."

Everything you see here was drawn using only XaraXtremePro. No raster bitmaps and no third party plugins used at all. The woodgrain look was created using the Fractal Clouds transparency live effect only. Everything else is a mixture of shapes/feathered fills/blends and transparencies.

No other software has enabled me to reach such a level of detail that I can with Xara Xtreme.

AE86 Sprinter
Here's an illustration 100% completed in XaraXtremePro 3.2 with the use of only one live effect (Flaming Pears' Flood) for the road surface. Everything else was done by hand.
The subject is one I'm becoming more and more familiar with due to my son rebuilding one of these 1985/6 Toyota Sprinter 'Trueno' hatchbacks.

This was created over a period of about ten days during spare time and represents the most detailed and complex drawing I've so far done using XaraXtreme.
I used 23 layers, each panel, body kit, lights, wheels, decals ect were on their own layer. This is how I 'built-up' the picture by drawing one-layer at a time. I found this a most satisfying project.

Although these racing-spec cars have no headlights etc, their pop-up covers are in the half raised 'sleepy' position (as it is known), a typical pose when cars of this type are photographed or on show.
The front wheels are in a negative camber position, eg: / \ , which increases grip in cornering.

Black Version
The Black version was a request and made easy by the fact of using 'named colours' in Xara Xtreme.
The project car currently being completely rebuilt by my son Derek, is black. This gave him a preview of what it might look like when finished (without all the sponsor decals of course.
Also Derek's car has much fatter tyres and wide flared guards.
